AC Beer Fest Recap

AC Beer Fest Recap

The AC Beer fest was so much fun, it knocked out our site for almost a week. Seriously though, we thoroughly apologize to all this may have inconvenienced. As they say, better late then never, so on to the re-cap.

As we mentioned earlier in the week, one of the things we most enjoyed was talking to the reps from the breweries. It really makes a statement when a company has a representative that is passionate about their product and gets excited talking about it. Next time you are at an event take a minute to chat with those pouring your sample. They may teach you a little something about what you’re drinking and offer a suggestion on something you will love.

The standouts of the show were the new Hazed and Infused, in cans from Boulder; Gubna, from Oskar Blues; a limited behind the scenes brew, BBA Porter from Cricket Hill; and once again, the Wooden Beanie from Boaks, a repeat favorite from the Great International Beer Expo. All of them are very different beers, but each had that “enjoyability” factor. There were many others that were very good, but these four really stood out.

As surprising as it is, even our self proclaimed non-beer drinker found a few that she liked, which included, The Raspberry Reserve, from Sly Fox; Cuvee de Flore, by Southampton; and 10-10-10 Vertical Epic by Stone. Thank you to Dennis for the taste, even though she felt it would be “wasted” on a non beer drinker.

Not to be forgotten was the Pear cider from Fox Barrel. This was a great drink, perfect for a spring or summer day. We spoke to quite a number of people who don’t normally like cider and the pear really surprised everyone. “Delicious” was the general consensus.

Don’t miss out in 2012, a great time was had by all!
