Recap : North East Philly Beer Festival

Recap : North East Philly Beer Festival

Finally the sun made its appearance and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. The shining sun made it a great day to be outside and there is nothing better on a beautiful day, after a week of rain then enjoying the outdoors with some music, good beer and food. Luckily all of this was present at the very first North East Philadelphia Beer Fest.

The Laid back atmosphere and the picnicesque vibe was just what the day called for and the North East Philly Beer Fest certainly delivered.  The food was quite reasonable and lent itself to the picnic style with offerings that included pitchers of drinks, bowls of pretzels and potato chips and of course the other beerfest food favorites. Although the crowd was almost double what was expected it never felt crowded or chaotic. It almost felt like you were at a really big family gathering, so much so that we even witnessed a few attendees playing backgammon.

A few of our favorites were Magic Hat- #9, Yards- Philadelphia Pale ale and Dogfish Head- 90 Minute IPA, which was a pleasant surprise, that we don’t often see at a beerfest.

A good time was had by all. We listened to some music, watched a master cigar roller do his thing, sampled some really good beer and thoroughly enjoyed the company. We look forward to seeing what this crew will put together for next year.
